Launched in September 2022, Nissan have relished great success with the New Nissan Qashqai with e-POWER with over 140,000 sales made, with customers noting how impressed they were with the amazing electric drive feeling delivered by Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology.
How does e-POWER work?
Traditional hybrids usually require recharging in order to power their electric motors. The smart innovative nature of Nissan’s e-POWER powertrain means that no plugging-in is required, saving time and money and delivering electric power to the wheels.
The New Nissan Qashqai with e-POWER contains a turbocharged three-cylinder engine that generates electricity. This then travels through an inverter to either the 140kW electric motor or the 1.8kWh battery, or both depending on the driving situation. This smart system then moderates the amount of electricity delivered to the vehicle’s speed so as not to waste any precious energy and keep the Qashqai e-POWER running efficiently at all times.
Commenting on the latest award, Diana Torres, Managing Director at Nissan GB, said: “It means a huge amount to be selected for recognition by some of the UK’s most popular publications and their motoring experts. Nissan is proud to have created the crossover segment when it launched the Qashqai in 2007. The cars on sale today are a far cry from those early models, of course, and the introduction of e-POWER technology in 2022 was a huge moment for Qashqai. It’s a car that’s incredibly important to all of us at Nissan and continues to be much loved by our customers.”
